King Abdullah receives European Commission President
His Majesty King Abdullah received European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at Al Husseiniya Palace. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended the meeting and expressed his keenness on expanding cooperation between Jordan and the European Union across various fields. King Abdullah praised the European Union’s support for the Kingdom during the 14th meeting of the Jordan-EU Association Council, held recently in Jordan. It was the first meeting to be held in a partner country from the southern region of the EU.
At the meeting, the King emphasized the need to step up efforts to create a real horizon to break the stalemate and move the peace process forward. This will help to end the cycle of violence threatening regional stability and security. The meeting also discussed ways to coordinate and integrate efforts to counter challenges related to food security, the environment, and climate change. President von der Leyen praised the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and the EU, highlighting the EU’s commitment to Jordan. She praised Jordan’s role in the region and efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises and strengthen regional partnerships.
